Found in New Guinea, Sulawesi and the Solomon Islands at elevations of 800 to 2500 meters in mossy cloudforests as a large sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with pendulous, thin, rope-like, branching, swollen basally canes enveloped basally by leaf sheaths carrying many, lanceolate, rigid, apically pointed leaves that blooms on a very short, axillary inflorescence that arises at most any time of the year from the nodes near the apex of the canes with 4 to 6 flowers in a cone shaped cluster .
