Found in Assam, eastern Himalayas, India and Laos in tropical valleys and subtropical evergreen forests along rivers at elevations of 330 to 830 meters as a medium to large sized, hot growing epiphyte with erect, terete stems carrying cylindric, rugose sheaths carrying linear-lanceolate, obliquely notched, sessile, distichous, jointed leaves that blooms in the spring through early fall on several, lateral, fasciculate, 2 flowered inflorescence
