Found in Sumatra in forests at elevations around 1100 to 1300 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with a stout, sheath coverd rhizome giving rise to at an angle to the rhizome, oblong-cylindric, yellow pseudobulbs carrying a single, elliptic-lanceolate, narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late summer and early fall on a slender, bearing flowers to the base, to 6" [15 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, acute, shorter than the pedicel and ovary floral bracts
