Common Name The Grass-Like Dendrochilum

Flower Size .16" [4 mm]

Found in northern and northwestern Borneo in hill and lower forests at elevations around 900 to 2700 meters as a miniature to small sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with a branching rhizome giving rise to close set, ovoid to oblong-ovoid, minutely wrinkled pseudobulbs enveloped by 3 to 5, ovate-elliptic, acute, speckled, soon evenescent cataphylls and carrying a single, apical, narrowly linear, obliquely obtuse to acute, thin textured, 3 main nerved, gradually narrowing below into the rigid, slender, sulcate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on a gently curving, produced with the leaf nearly fully expanded, peduncle filiform, 2 to 3.8" [9.5 cm] long, provided with 3 to 4, ovate-elliptic, acute bracts, rachis nodding, quadrangular, 2 to 3.6" [5 to 9 cm] long, subdensely 16 to 26 flowered inflorescence with narrowly ovate-elliptic, subacute to acute, pale brown, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying either scented or not flowers with deep yellow, bright lemon yellow to greenish yellow tepals that are salmon pink to brownish orange at the base, the lip is cream to yellow and centrally flushed with green and salmon paink at the base with a brown median line, the keels are green at the base, the column is greenish white with brown at the base.
