Found in Guizhou province of China on tree trunks at elevations of 800 to 1500 meters as a medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with slender, grooved, angular stems carrying linear to linear-lanceolate, leathery to thinly leathery, narrowing below into the amplexicaule sheath, obtuse to obliquely retuse leaves that blooms in the spring on a lateral, arising on last years leafless stem, ascending, to 1.4" [6 cm] long, 1 to 2 [3] flowered inflorescence with 3 to 4 basal, thick, papery with raised veins sheaths and pale purplish, cymbiform, thickly papery, obtuse floral bracts and carrying fragrant, spreading flowers.
