Found in southern New Guinea as a large sized, hot to warm growing, natural hybrid between D antennatum and D biggibum with elongate, leafy stems carrying lanceolate, with a pair of minute points apically leaves that blooms in the winter and spring on axillary to subapical, erect, racemose, to 5.6" [14 cm] long, to 9 flowered inflorescence carrying color variable flowers
