Common Name or Meaning Gjellerup's Dendrobium [Danish Orchid Collector 1800's]
Flower Size to almost 1" [to 2.5 cm]
Found in western New Guinea as a spindly caned, hot growing epiphyte at elevations around 50 meters with clustered, flattened and elongated canes carrying many, lanceolate, warty on top leaves that are attenuate to warty sheaths that have a pronounced tooth and blooms in the winter on a short, several flowered inflorescence that has warty bracts along the leafless cane and glistening flowers that last a single day. This plant blooms 1 to 2 weeks after a sudden temperature drop.
