Found in New Guinea at elevations around 1000 to 1300 meters as a large sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with a short rhizome giving rise to simple, strict, terete stems carrying many, erect-patent, glabrous, shiny, lanceolate, obtuse, unequally bilobed apically leaves that blooms in the spring through early summer on a short, 2 flowered inflorescence.

Schlechter states that the flowers are pale yellow to pale orange yellow with a reddish labellum and a red central crest on the latter.
