LATE
Common Name The Fire Red Debdrobium
Flower Size .6" [1.5 cm]
Found in western New Guinea at lower elevations on trees in swamps or in primary forests as a medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with clustered, somewhat flattened stems carrying many, distichous, imbricating, all in one plane, elliptic leaves and blooms in the late winter on a very short, 2 flowered inflorescence.
CAUTION All of the photos above with a question mark are a plant with leaves that are larger than the flowers and the type had leaves that are smaller than the flowers as in the first photo by Andre Schuiteman, the larger leaved specimens are most likely another species that has not yet been identified.
Synonyms Grastidium igneum (J.J.Sm.) S.Rauschert 1983
