Found in New Guinea at elevations around 1400 meters as a medium sized, cool growing epiphyte with a very short rhizome giving rise to simple, glabrous, compressed, densely leafy stems carrying erect, glabrous, linear, obtuse and unequally obliquely bilobed apically leaves that blooms in the spring on an axillary, short, single flowered inflorescence carrying a non-resupinate flower.
Schlechter states that the flowers are fairly dark red externally, white inside and the lip is gloosy and thickly red spotted..
