Common Name Mohl's Dendrobium [German Botanist 1800's]

Flower Size less than 1/2" to 1 1/4" [1 to 3 cm]

Found in the Solomon Islands, Fiji, Samoa and Vanuatu in montane and cloud forests at altitudes of 450 to 3100 meters but are most common from 1500 to 2300 meters as a medium to large sized, cool to cold growing species with clustered, slender, spreading or pendant, basally lightly swollen, leafy towards the apex stems carrying many, distichous, lanceolate leaves. The bloom season is from late winter through spring and early summer on 1.8" [4.5 cm] long, few to several flowered racemes that arise axillary towards the apex of older leafless canes with 4 to 6 flowers and it is pollinated by birds.

Water and fertilizer should be slightly reduced through the winter months and only resumed with the onset of new growth in the spring.
