Common Name The Nothofagus Dendrobium [Type of Tree]

Flower Size around 1/2" [.4 to .6 cm]

Found in Papua and New Guinea as a small sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte found on Nothofagus trees at elevations of 1800 to 2800 meters with spherical to oblong-ovoid, rugose, brown to reddish brown stems carrying a single, apical, elliptic, thick, leathery, tesselated on top, purple beneath leaf that blooms on a very short, few to many flowered inflorescence arising at the apex of leafed and leafless canes with 3 to 20, tubelike flowers.

A slight reduction of water nad fertilizer is beneficial in the winter and should be resumed only with new growth in the spring.
