Common Name The Few Small Flowered Dendrobium - In China Shao Hua Shi Hu
Flower Size .2 to 1.3" [.5 to 3.3 cm]
Found in Assam, the eastern Himalayas, Thailand, Laos, China, and Vietnam at elevations of 800 to 1700 meters as a miniature to medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with slender, close set, mid to apically leafy stems carrying, many, disitchous, widely spaced, somewhat flattened, linear, narrow, fleshy, nearly terete leaves that blooms in the fall on a short, single flowered inflorescence arising on leafy or leafless stems.
D marivelense is often given as a synonym of this species but it differs in blooming in the spring, has a single yellow spot without calli on the lip, obtusely triangular sidelobes and the midlobe is bilobed. D parciflorum blooms in the fall, has a long yellow central stripe with a central raised callus on the lip and no side lobes but a bilobed midlobe.
