Common Name The Virginal Dendrobium - refers to the greek goddess Athene Pathene

Flower Size 2.5" [6.4 cm]

Found in Sabah, Borneo in the Mt Kinabalu area in hill or lowland forests along streams at elevations of 600 to 1100 meters as a large sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte that occurs with clustered, erect, simple yellowish green to yellow stems with many closely distichous, spreading, short, ovate-oblong to oblong, minutely obtusely bidentate, stiffly coriaceous, glabrous leaves that blooms in the fall on many, .2 to .32" [5 to 8 mm] long, glabrous, green, successively one to 2, 2 to 3 [4] flowered inflorescence with ovate, obtuse to acute, glabrous, pale brown floral bracts carrying showy flowers that arise all along the stem between the leaves.
