Common Name or Meaning The Extended Dendrobium
Flower Size .8" [2 cm]
Found in Papua New Guinea and is special in that "there are only three dendrobiums known to have leaves that do not drop off after they die: the familiar and sort of similar Dendrobium dichaeoides; D. protractum; and one that is in a very different section. Since the leaves of this thing don't abscise (you can see the untidy, dead, brown leaves in the photo), it was easy to recognize it as Dendrobium protractum.
