Found in New Guinea at elevations around 1000 meters as a large sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with a short rhizome giving rise to simple, fleshy, laxly leaved stems carrying erect-patent, glabrous, lanceolate-elliptic, acuminate, cuneate below into the base leaves that blooms in the early summer on a lateral, subsessile, capituliform, 4 to 7 flowered inflorescence with elliptic, acute bracts

Schlechter states that the flowers are always cleistogamus, white and despite their cleistogamy they are quite fragrant
