Common NameThe Sack Carrying Dendrobium

Flower Size .5" [1.25 cm]

Found in Java and Sumatra at elevations of 700 to 1500 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with very compressed, penduous, not branched stems carrying all along the stem, triangular, often suffused with violet in youth, lower margin rounded leaves that blooms in the spring on a very short, single flowered inflorescence arising from the upper nodes of the stem near the apex.

CAUTION!!!!! According to Comber in Orchids of Sumatra; his photo of D sagittatum in Orchids of Java was not correct and it matches the one by Irawan very well so please use with caution!!!! Mulder's Photo seems closer to the type. The Drawing by J J Smith is the type so it is absolutely correct!

Synonyms Aporum sagittatum (J.J.Sm.) Rauschert 1983
