Common Name Slade's Dendrobium [English Orchidist in Vanuatu 1900's]

Flower Size 1 to 1.2" [2.5 to 3 cm]

Found in Fiji, Samoa and Vanuatu on isolated trees and in open and coastal forests at elevations of sealevel to 900 meters as a large sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with clustered, slender, pendulous to erect stems enveloped by sheathlike leaf bases and carrying many, distichous, rigidly leathery, narrowly ovate to lanceolate, unequally bilobed apically leaves articulated below to the stem that blooms in the winter and spring on a 1.6" [4 cm] long, 2 flowered inflorescence arising from the nodes at the apex of the stem opposite the leaves.
