Common Name The Bulging Flower Dendrobium [refers to the inflated flower] - In China Chu Chun Shi Hu
Flower Size .4 to .8" [1 to 2 cm]
Found in the Chinese Himalayas, Myanmar, Laos and Thailand in montane forests on tree trunks at elevations around 1000 to 2100 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte or as the photo suggests lithophyte with a few, slender, 4" [10 cm] long, pendulous, vertically ribbed, slightly fractiflex canes enveloped near the nodes by sheaths and carrying 5, oblong to lanceolate, obtuse, slighly unequally bilobed apically leaves and blooms in the late spring through early fall on often more than one, 4" [10 cm] long, 6 to 8 flowered inflorescence arising from the nodes near the apex of the cane and carrying all the flowers towards the apex clustered in a loose ball
