Found in the Philippines at elevations of 500 to 1000 meters as a giant sized, warm growing epiphyte with erect, elongate, leafy stems carrying on the apical 2/3's of the stem, narrowly elliptic, papery leaves that blooms in the spring on a short, from opposite the leaves, up to 40 flowered inflorescence

This species is very similar to the widespread D bullenianum but the major difference is that D tiongii always has erect stems no matter how long or old they are and the flowers are never striped.
