Found in Sabah Borneo in lower montane heath forests at elevations around 1240 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with clustered, erect, slightly basally swollen, gently fractiflex, glossy yellow with age cane-like stems carrying many, coriaceous, spreading, oblong-elliptic, unequally obtusely, bilobulate apically, adaxially dull green, glabrous, abaxially black hairy leaves that blooms in the winter on an axillary, short, 2 to 3 flowered inflorescence with ovate, acuminate, brown, covered in black hairs floral bracts.

Similar to D ayubii but is distinguished by having only one, instead of three, small keel in between the 2 large keels on the disc of the lip.
