LATE EARLY
Common Name Stockelbusch's Dendrobium [German Orchid Enthusiast Current]
Flower Size 1.2 to 2" [3 to 5 cm]
Found in Vietnam at elevtions around 1000 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphtye with erect, clustered, fusiform to ovate stems carrying 3 to 7, obovate to lanceoalte, coriaceous, slightly bilobed apically leaves that blooms in the late winter and early spring on both old and new canes, shortly pedunculate, 1 to 4 flowered inflorescence.
Very similar to and is often cited as a synonym of Dendrobium wattii but this species differs in smaller, almost pure white flowers and entire acute (not emarginate) epichile. It is highly probable that D. vocongii is natural hybrid, which exhibits visible intermediate vegetative and floral morphology between D. wattii and our new species and obviously originated by means their natural hybridization."
