Found in Trinidad & Tobago, Surinam, Fr Guiana, Guyana, Venezuela and northern Brazil as a miniature sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with leafy, pendent stems enveloped by leaf sheath bases carrying ligth green lightly recurved margins, oblong to oblong-lanceolate, acuminate leaves that blooms on an axillary, short, single flowered inflorescence

There has been much confusion over this species and D trinitensis but the main differnence is D rendelei is a smaller plant and has the ventral side of the column being concave and does not have a elongate hook-like ligule.
