Found from Mexico to Guatemala on the Gulf of Mexico side in mountane rainforests at elevations of 600 to 1500 meters as a medium to large sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte that is a natural hybrid between D trichocarpa and D squarrosa with fleshy, thickened, linear to linear-lanceolate, acuminate to tapering and long apiculate or obtuse apiculate leaves that blooms on an axillary, single flowered inflorescence.
