Found in Guizhou, Sichuan and northwestern Yunnan provinces of China on rocky slopes and mossy ottcrops in dense forests at elevations of 1800 to 3200 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial or lithophyte with a stem with 1 to 2 tubular, basal sheaths and carrying 1 to 2 elliptic to ovate, acute leaves above that blooms in the late summer on an erect, 1.2 to 2.8" [3 to 7 cm] long, to more than 20 flowered inflorescence with 4 lanceolate, acute bracts and lanceoalte, shorter than the ovary, acuminate floral bracts
