Found in Burundi, Rwanda, Zaire, Tanzania, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Cape Province, Natal, Swaziland, and Transvaal South Africa in marshy areas on sandflats in full sun at elevations of 1500 to 2700 meters as a medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial that blooms in the spring on an erect, terminal, to 20" [50 cm] long, few flowered inflorescence
