Found in Western Australia at elevations of sea level to 30 meters among low shrubs in white sands on moist flats in stabilized sand dunes as a small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial orchid with 3 to 5 straight leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, 8 to 20 [20 to 50 cm] long, 1 to 4 flowered inflorescence This species has a shorter inflorescence than D drummondii which it has many other simularities
