Found in Antioquia Colombia as a small sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped baally by 2 to 3 loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apicla, erect, thinly coriaceous, carinate, narrowly elliptical-linear, acute, gradually narrowing below into the conduplicate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a slender, erect, 3.6 to 4.1" [9 to 11 cm] long, successively few flowered, racemose inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul and carrying several distant bracts.

This species is a natural hybrid between D trichoma and another unknown species
