Found in Costa Rica in premontane rainforests at elevations of 2500 meters as a small sized cool to cold growing terrestrial with an erect stem enveloped completely by imbricate leaf bearing sheaths and each carrying, ovate, unequally bilobed apically leaves that blooms in the summer on a terminal or axillary, few flowered racemose inflorescence.
