Common Name The Flax-Like Leaved Elleanthus

Found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Brazil at elevations of 1200 to 2000 meters as a medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with an erect, slender, leafy stem enveloped completely by adpressed leaf sheaths and carrying obliquely erect, linear, uneveny 3 toothed, mucronate apically leaves that blooms in the winter through summer on an elongate, to 2.2" [to 5.5 cm] long, racemose, fractiflex, many flowered inflorescence that is shorter than the terminal leaf and with strongly keeled, approximate not overlapping, ovate-lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts that are usually longer than the flowers
