Common Name Schlechter's Eltroplectris [German orchid botanist 1900's]

Flower Size 2.5" [6.25 cm]

Found in Parana and Rio Grande do Sul states of Brazil, Paraguay and Misiones department of Argentina in primary forests and dense secondary forests at lower elevations as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with 3 to 4, basal, oval to ovate-lanceolate, basally rounded, abruptly pointed to acuminate apically, 7 veined, glabrous, long, narrowly petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, peduncle provided with 5 to 7, membraneous, amplexicaul, acuminate sheathing bracts, slightly pubescent in the upper part, glabrous elsewhere, 12 to 16, rarely to 20 flowered inflorescence with erect, pointed, almost glabrous, more or less as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying fragrant flowers.

"Similar to !Eltroplectris calcarata but difers in the sepals that are acuminate but are not acicular at the extremities and the labellum has a very different structure as well as the raceme is more floriferous." Hoehne 1945
