Found in Para state of Brazil as a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with almost rounded, pyriform pseudobulbs carrying 2 to 3, long, narrow linear, acute leaves that blooms in the later winter and early spring on a elongate, many flowered inflorescence carrying very fragrant vanilla scented flowers.

This species is part of the Encyclia oncidioides group but separated easily by the white rimmed purple lip.
