Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]
Found in Huila, and Valle de Cauca departments of Colombia, Surinam and Venezuela in slightly dense thickets, savannahs and premontane forests with ample air circulation at elevations up to 1650 meters as a medium sized, 2 to 3 leafed, warm to cool growing epiphytic or lithophytic species with ovoid-conical, rugose pseudobulbs carrying 1 to 3, apical, strap-shaped leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on a terminal, arising on a mature pseudobulb that is much longer than the leaves, 6' [2 meter] long, apical, brown or maroon, paniculate or racemose, many flowered inflorescence with much shorter than the pedicellate ovary floral bracts and carrying very fragrant flowers.
Easily distinguished by the rough inflorescence and ovary, by its large size (plant to 2'6" [62 cm] long, and the inflorescence can get to 80" [200 cm]) and relatively large, although dull colored flowers.
