Common Name The Tree-Like Epidendrum
Flower Size to more than 1" [to more than 2.5 cm]
Found in Mexico south to Ecuador in elfin and cloud forests at elevations of 1700 to 3200 meters as a medium sized, warm to cold growing, reedstem epiphyte with a branching stem enveloped basally by scarious sheaths carrying distichous, articulated to the upper sheaths, coriaceous, elliptical, acute leaves that are conduplicate towards the base that blooms on a terminal, pendulous, to 8" [20 cm]long, racemose inflorescence with several to many flowers occuring in the winter.
