Found in Panama in wet forests low in valleys along rivers at elevations around 500 meters as a small to large sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with simple to branched, cane-like stems enveloped by leaf sheaths and carrying several, linear to ensiform, acute leaves that blooms in the winter on a shorter than the leaf, 1 to 3 flowered inflorescence with subimbricate, scarious, cucullate floral bracts that are longer than the pedicels of the flower
