Common Name Cardona's Epistephium [Colombian Herbarium Curator current]
Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm] long
Found in Amazonas department of Colombia in scrub on white sand with decaying matter at elevations around 100 to 150 meters as a giant sized, hot growing terrestrial with a branching stem carrying lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate to lanceolate-elliptic, shortly acuminate, acute, attenuate below into the shortly petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late fall and early winter on a few, axillary, racemose, to 6" [15 cm] long, several flowered inflorescence with minute, triangular-ovate floral bracts and carrying purplish, short lived flowers.
