Found in Sulawesi in montane forests on steep slopes above rivers at elevations of 1100 to 2500 meters as a medium sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with tall pseudobulbs carrying 4 to 6 leaves and blooms in the later fall and winter with 1 to 3, erect, many flowered inflorescence
