Found in Nigeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Congo, Gulf of Guinea Islands, Zaire and Angola as a large to giant sized terrestrial with irregular shaped, partly to subterranean pseudobulbs carrying elliptic, acute to acuminate, plicate, heavy textured, robustly petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late spring and early summer on an erect, 8 to 16" [20 to 37.5 cm] long, several to many flowered inflorescence .
