Found in Zaire, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe in Brachystegia and escarpment woodlands at elevations of 900 to 1600 meters as a medium sized, slender, warm to cool growing terrestrial with pseudobulbous, conical, chain forming tubers giving rise to 7 to 8, erect, linear, acuminate,the basal 3 sheathing, absent at flowering leaves that blooms in the spring on an erect, peduncle with a short median sheath, 12 to 17.2" [30 to 43 cm] long, laxly 3 to 10 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts carrying spreading becoming nodding flowers.
