Found in Sulawesi and New Guinea in forests on trunks and branches of trees at elevations of 800 to 1000 meters as a small to medium sized, warm growing epiphyte with a creeping rhizome giving rise to aerial stems at 1.2 to 2" [3 to 5 cm] intervals which bear up to 4 pseudobulbs carrying a single apical, ovate, obtuse leaf that blooms in the summer and fall on 1 to 2, behind the leaf, short, single flowered inflorescence
