Found in Taiwan, Thailand, Borneo, Java, Malaysia, Sumatra and the Philippines in forests at elevations near sea level as a large sized, hot growing, mycoheterotrophic terrestrial with a fleshy and cylindrical rhizome giving rise in the late spring to a purple brown erect, to 2' [60 cm] long, 2 to 10 flowered inflorescence with triangular acute floral bracts.
