Common Name The Hairy Lipped Gastrodia - In China Dong Tian Ma

Flower Size .4" [1 cm]

Found in Japan and Taiwan in bamboo forests and in bamboo plantations at elevations of 200 to 300 meters as a dwarf sized, cool to cold growing, leafless, mycoheterotrophic terrestrial with a subcylindric to fusiform rhizome that blooms in the winter on a dark brown, densely many noded, rachis very short, 1 to 3 flowered inflorescence with broadly ovate floral bracts and carrying fragrant [not nice] flowers
