Found in New Caledonia and Wallis and Futna Islands in rainforests either in humus, on rocks or at the base of very mossy trees at elevations of 100 to 1400 meters as a small to medium sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial or lithophyte or ocasionally low mossy epiphyte with a numerous, green to purplish red, darker veined, narrowly elliptic, acute leaves that blooms in the weinter and spring on a terminal, erect, to [70 cm] long, 15 to 65 flowered inflorescence
