A medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte from the Pacific coast of Colombia at elevations around 850 to 1600 meters in wet premontane forests with conical to ovoid, only slightly ribbed, ribs rounded and not angular pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical, erect, plicate, lanceolate, acute, gradually narrowing below into the elongate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on a basal, pendant, to 20" [50 cm] long, 10 to 12 flowered inflorescence.

This species and G similis are very similar but differ in G similis dorsal 2 pointed anterior of the lip, which is on the left and G gratulabunda rounded dorsal anterior lip structure on the right
