Found in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in wet montane, primary forests at elevations of 700 to 1400 meters as a medium sized, hot to cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with ovoid to ovoid-pyriform, sulcate, obtuse or acutely angled pseudobulbs with 2 apical, elliptic-lanceolate, acute, ribbed, leaves with a channeled petiole that blooms in the summer on a 14 to 20" [35 to 50 cm] long, pendant raceme with several to many [18 to 39], simultaneously opening flowers arising on a mature pseudobulb.
