Found in western Hubei and Yunnan provinces of China and northern Taiwan in mixed evergreen and broad-leaved forests at elevations of 900 to 3700 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with an erect stem carrying 3 to 6, rosulate at the base of the stem, abaxially pale green, adaxially green with white venations and irregular marking, ovate to ovate-orbicular, obtuse to acute apically, cordate, rounded or broadly cuneate below into the base leaves that blooms in the spring through fall on a green, erect, 6.8 to 11.2" [17 to 28 cm] long, pubescent, laxly 8 to 20 flowered inflorescence with 3 to 5 sterile bracts and ovate-lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts and carrying weakly opening flowers
