Found in Assam India, eastern Himalayas, Nepal, western Himalayas, Bhutan, Thailand, Malaysia, Yunnan province of China, Vietnam, Borneo, Java, Sumatra, Moluccas, the Philippines, Sulawesi, Bismark, New Guinea, Solomon Islands, New Caledonia, Samoa, Vanuatu, Queensland Australia, Japan, Taiwan and Ryukyu Islands on steep rocky slopes and in deep forests at elevations of 400 to 2200 meters as a creeping, small sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial orchid with 5 to 6, ovate, shortly pointed, slightly heart-shaped basally into a slender petiolate base leaf that blooms in the laer summer and fall on an erect, slender, 2 to 4" [5 to 10 cm] long, shortly pilose, 2 to 6 flowered, racemose inflorescence arising after the orchid has matured and has 1 to 2 sterile bracts.
