Common Name The Sonohara Goodyera [An Area of the Ryukyu Islands] In Japan Kunigami-syusu-ran

Found in the Ryukyu Islands as a miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial with a decumbent rhizome giving rise to a glabrous, erect, stem carrying 5 to 8 basal, obliquely ovate to ovate-elliptic, acute, abruptly contracted into the petiolate base leaves and becoming glandular pilose towards the short to 2" [5 cm] long, erect, several flowered, pilose inflorescence with linear-lanceolate, acuminate, slightly longer than the ovary floral bracts
Said to be synomonous with G foliosa but differs in the pilose exterior of the sepals and the much wider appearance of the flower
