Common Name The Lily Like Govenia
Flower Size 1.2" [3 cm]
Found in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama at elevations of 1000 to 3000 meters as a medium to large sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial orchid with a short, stout, fleshy, cylindric, tapering pseudobulb carrying 2 apical, plicate, elliptic, shortly acute or lanceolate-acuminate, contracted below into the sheathing base leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, leafless scape, racemose to subcapitate, shorter to, equal to or longer than the leaf, to 36" [90 cm] long, rachis to 7.2" [18 cm] long, few to many flowered inflorescence with the base enveloped by imbricating, tubular bracts.
