Common Name Balfour's Habenaria [Scottish Botanist early 1900's] - In China Dian Shu Yu Feng Hua

Found in southwestern Sichuan and northwestern Yunnan provinces of China in forests or shrubby grasslands at elevations of 2200 to 3600 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with an oblong tuber giving rise to an erect, terete, densely papillate, hairy stem carrying 2, basal, nearly opposite, spreading horizontally, sometimes tinged with yellowish white, ovate to broadly elliptic, slighly fleshy, 5 nerved, obtuse rounded basally, acuminate to acute apically leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, papillate, to 2.8" [7 cm] long, 3 to 7 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts.
